What is the Art of Sales?

For 25 years, I've heard people state, "sales is an art." Out of curiosity, do you think of an artist when you hear the words "sales professional?" I've always been enamored with marketing professionals, and the image of creativity, cutting-edge tools, and glossy deliverables my mind creates. What, then, do I see when picturing a sales professional?
Sales is a strategic balance of people, processes, and tools. That art is created by putting disciplined effort and energy into all three areas, simultaneously. I founded Boost Sales Advisors because I've seen too many companies focus on just one area expecting sales success, only to be let down.
How many times has a small company decided it's time to build a sales function? They hire one or two successful sales professionals and nine months later, wonder why they aren't seeing the sales success they expected? I call this "Hire and Hope." Many hiring companies will falsely assume the lack of sales increase is the fault of the new salesperson, but never look at the systems supporting that person.
Would an engineering firm hire an engineer with no systems, no processes, no tools available to her? If so, where does that engineer start, and how long will it take that engineer to set up the quality systems, procedures, physical and software tools they need, before they can start engineering anything?
The same holds true for sales professionals. To be successful, they need a message, a prospecting tool, marketing collateral, a sales process, a CRM tool, metrics tracking, etc. If those systems are not in place, the salesperson you hire must first create that system (if they have the experience and ability to do so) then start selling. Or they might attempt to build a system and sell simultaneously, which is less than optimal. Either way, the employer will either see a delayed or low sales and a mediocre-at-best system built by a sales professional who is trying to build sales and systems simultaneously.
I'm here to take the mystery out of sales and define the art of sales. I want to show you what a good sales system looks like, and how that makes your "sales artist" successful. Let's break down sales into elements we can control and enhance. Let's do that together. Please contact Boost Sales Advisors to help you create systems for revenue growth and fully functioning sales teams.
